Delmak-O 02:05
Delmak-O is where I'm gonna go But I don't know what they're gonna make me do No, I haven't got a clue I'm just glad to leave this crew behind After all of this time The gods have answered my prayer I'll be better off there Where the air is clean And the people aren't mean Even sight unseen I know I've got to go. I'm getting old and I don't have much to show On Delmak-O I'll have a chance to get it right My future's looking bright I can finally win my fight with booze It's a choice I gladly choose My life passed me by But redemption is nigh No more feeling sad When I ought to be glad It won't be so bad, I know, On Delmak-O!
2.
We're getting out of here tonight - let's pack for Delmak-O There's nothing there to fear because at least it is away Leave transport up to chance, and with a blindfold off we'll go - Like life, this nose-shaped spaceship, well, it only goes one way. But while I pack, a man walks up, a man beyond belief He says the transport that I chose will doubtless take my life I'm thankful for the information, but I wish that he would leave For how can I love God when I'm not sure I love my wife? And some might call it mordant wit, others, just a morbid streak, When what I know might hurt me, not to choose becomes my choice Protect me from the bigger picture, turn the other cheek I'll hit'cha What I see can hurt me, so don't wanna hear your voice I wish that I had courage in my mordant, morbid breath To tell Him 'please don't interfere,' 'cause I don't want to know - Whatever mode of transport that my spirit will select At least will take me to the place that I deserve to go And some might call it mordant wit, others, just a morbid streak, When what I know might hurt me, not to choose becomes my choice Protect me from the bigger picture, turn the other cheek I'll hit'cha What I see can hurt me, so don't wanna hear your voice Don't wanna hear your voice Don't wanna hear your voice
3.
(computer voice) You are one thousand miles above the planet's surface. Please switch to auto-pilot... (male voice) Greetings from those who got here before you You'll need a strong drink, impossible to think While we are all talking, the kettle is boiling, Its noise drowning out what we're babbling about. We'd like to think that we understand everything Whilst hoping deep down there's still truth to be found Existence is dull when the magic is gone - How can we hope when it's so easy to cope? Greetings from those who got here before you, Bemoaning our lot and the damn coffee pot Just keeps on boiling, the potential is spoiling Before it begins and won't ever stop. All that we've got is to understand everything Keeping us firmly nailed onto a ground that's Strangely mundane, there's no magic to see - How can we cope when it's so easy to hope? Greetings from those who got here before you No designation and no explanations We're putting up facts like they're paper umbrellas On permenant loan, to face the unknown What if we never can understand everything? Even the coffee pot might yet be found To harbour some magic we're too dull to find How can we cope placing hope in our minds?
4.
At last we'll be enlightened of our fate We can't believe how long we've had to wait The satellite will beam the message here And what we're meant to do will be made clear Wouldn't it be nice to know our purpose? To have a clear direction for our lives? We'd like to find out what our work is And how this little commune will survive We gather in the hall and start the tape But as the message is taking shape A screeching sound is heard instead of speaking The speakers full of static, noise, and shrieking Wouldn't it be nice to know our purpose? To have a clear direction for our lives? We'd like to find out what our work is And how this little commune will survive Sitting with astonished looks on our faces As the transport on the satellite erases The message that would tell us what to do The job that could become our social glue Now we're doomed to never know our purpose We lack a clear direction for our lives We'll never find out what our work is And now this little commune won't survive
5.
Finished his drink Rose to his feet Time to start moving Beat a retreat Leaving the hall, why should he care With no common source and no good at prayers? Strange little world with no use and no love Hard to see the stars through the grey skies above Cruel and inhuman, and each on their own Flailing and groping in the dark all alone Out in the dark All going wrong Bitter and tired He stumbled along Should he turn back, or head on alone? Angry disgust at this desolate home Strange little world with no use and no love Hard to see the stars through the grey skies above Cruel and inhuman and each to their own Flailing and groping in the dark all alone Back to his quarters Ready to drop A telescope barrel The faintest of pops The stars all expired, he died on his feet Time has stopped moving, utter defeat
6.
I'm afraid of the things that live beyond these walls They could cast spells or they might be mind readers They could come at any second to destroy us all So I think we should elect a leader We won't be safe Until we find the right man for the job And if we wait we'll turn into a disorderly mob (oh oh oh) They'll pick us off one by one We won't escape if we run That's why we've got to act fast If we want to last We can vote for each other in a democratic way But I think that we need to be cautious If we find that we don't like the things he has to say We'll kick him out and give a new guy the office It's dangerous To be helpless and alone right now But even worse Stuck with an idiot to whom you bow down (oh bow down) Let's vote before it's too late Then when they come to seal our fate We'll be prepared for the hunt With our leader out in front With our leader out in front With our leader out in front With our leader out in front
7.
Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore You better let me in when I knock on your door Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore Every man I fuck always begs for more Just tell me how you want it Tell me, we'll get on it I know all of the positions I've got a sexual condition Get on the bed between my legs On your knees and start to beg Take off my peek-n-squeeze bra We'll screw until we're both raw, cuz I'm the Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore You better let me in when I knock on your door Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore Every man I fuck always begs for more If you don't ask I'll give it I don't just talk I live it I saw you staring at dinner You know deep down you're a sinner I'll make you feel like a man You say you can't but you can You really wish you could get some And when I call you, you will come, cuz I'm the Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore You better let me in when I knock on your door Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore Every man I fuck always begs for more I can't believe that you refused me You totally confused me But soon you'll see that you're wrong Until you do I'll keep singin' my song, I'm the Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore You better let me in when I knock on your door Settlement Whore, I'm the Settlement Whore Every man I fuck always begs for more

Expedition 02:02
Susie dead, a search ahead And half the fauna's made of gears Seven went out, all full of doubt To find the source of all their fears Finding naught they turned to thought The world around them hid from sight By a veil that turns all truth to false A Curse that creates dark from light Suddenly it came into existence Smoke stacks belching into the sky When they approached it moved into the distance It seemed as though they'd be denied Standing still they saw it fill Their vision as if zooming in Russell's take: it was a fake An Army decoy, Doppler twin The true locale, through rationale, A fake plateau beyond the stream At a loss, they feared to cross But it was not as deep as it seemed Just then Russell asked for a prayer Maggie turned and gave a silent nod When she turned back they saw it there The veil was lifted with the help of God With the help of God

Now that we can see the sign above the door The quest is at an end - we've found the Holy Grail We're standing at the gate of Castle of the Gods, Where myths will be dispelled and rationale unveiled We all read different things, we can't communicate But only I can see. It's speaking just to me - The rest aren't qualified, the truth is classified The facts of life distilled for me. I must go in. The answer waits inside, will be just as I thought - It cannot be a trap because I know I'll die But routine's always been the enemy of wit And truth becomes machines - the human mind's too weak We all read different things, we can't communicate But only I can see. It's speaking just to me - The rest aren't qualified, the truth is classified The facts of life distilled for me. I can't go in. To answer my request (that deep down I believe The world can only run the way I think it should) All things to everyone, red herring, warning sign; That sign above the door will alter every time. We all read different things, we can't communicate But only I can see. It's speaking just to me - The rest aren't qualified, the truth is classified The facts of life distilled for me. I won't go in.

Let me tell you the story of Tony A boy who died so horribly young Some say he was only a phony I say he's a hero, unsung Now Tony was often in trances He spoke with the Good Lord above He'd joke that the Lord's name was Francis But most folks just called him 'guv' One day Tony lost a good friend To an accident with a rock His grief wouldn't come to an end And his mind kept reeling in shock He blamed himself for the misfortune She'd asked him for a sign They found her dead on the porch soon After his act most divine That Tony was a gentle lad He'd never hurt a fly The best the world had ever had Too bad he had to die He thought that he could right the wrong By battling evil himself He prayed to the Lord with a song And centered his somatic self He reached in the air with his hand And fumbled around for the Sword He swore he'd obey the command And then he received his reward He gentled the sword down from heaven It blazed with a deafening light He stepped out of Pod #7 And looked for the enemy blight Then with a start he beheld it The Destroyer of Forms in the flesh He swung with the Sword and he felled it It crumbled before him in death That Tony was a gentle lad He'd never hurt a fly The best the world had ever had Too bad he had to die

The Tench 02:34
In sunlight by the river, The Tench produces answers The information giver, Happy ever after? A living photocopier, A sort of fortune cookie The Tench produces answers In sunlight by the river. Who is our enemy? Influential circles. How many will die? All will be killed. What should we do? Yield to the attraction. The answers ooze out like a drink is spilled It answers all our questions But we don't hear what it says Unless we happen to agree We won't believe the prophecy Why are we alive? To heighten our power. Is there a God? You would not believe me. Are we in danger? Ambition devours. If it had only said 'Yes' then we could make our plea It's the answer to our problems But we don't hear what it says Unless we happen to agree We won't believe the prophecy

We need a new leader cuz Glen is insane He busted in on Tony and blew out his brains Taking the life of a youth in his prime Is one of the most reprehensible crimes Who's got the gun? I've got the gun! Give me the gun! Forget it Glen! Who's got the gun? Seth's got the gun! Give me the gun! You'll kill again! But Glen isn't crazy, it was self-defense The kid had a sword so he couldn't take a chance You've got to forgive him for what he has done He always felt Tony was like a son Who's got the gun? I've got the gun! Give me the gun! Just step away! Who's got the gun? Thugg's got the gun! Give me the gun! Do what I say! I will kill you if you don't stay back Don't move a muscle or I will attack I'm sick of your bickering and condescending ways I'll be the one to get out of this maze Give me the gun! Let's not dispute! Give me the gun! I'm not a brute! Give me the gun! Give me the gun! I swear I'll shoot!

Todestraum 04:23
Libera me, Domine De morte aeterna, in die illa tremenda Agnus Dei, agnus dei Qui tollis peccata mundi Lacrymosa dies illa Qua resurget ex favillia, Judicandus homo reus. Huic ergo parce, Deus! Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem. Mors stupebit et natura Cum resurget creatura, Judicanti responsura.

In The Squib 02:39
First stop: A tiny ship in which I bled, Manned by men in black with taser guns They take me to the place from which I'd fled But they're the ones who wind up getting stunned Born of the Building To a city in ruins Fly from my enemy Or just take me home Second stop: Not sure how long I was out There's a crumbling city on the viewscreen And in my mind a constant nagging doubt Is Delmak-O a place or just a dream? Born of the Building To a city in ruins Fly from my enemy Or just take me home Third stop: The ship returns to the past Greeting me are more cruel intentions And in the wake of all the missle blasts I finally abandon my pretensions Born of the Building To a city in ruins Fly from my enemy Or just take me home

Persus 9 02:28
We share a marking in green ink A mark that no one can recall But if it means the thing we think We could be guilty of it all Did strangers do us in Or was it death by our own hands? Who dares confess the sin Of murder in the first degree It wasn't me! My test results betrayed your schemes Just wait and see Your crimes will haunt your dreams It seems the key That will unlock the mystery Is stenciled on my arm and in your instep We must return and ask the Tench The question burning in our minds About the mark that brought us here "What is Persus 9?"
16.
It was all Just a polyencephalic nightmare How could we fall For an artificially shaped fight where We vented our rage In a virtual cage But killing each other for what We thought was a dubious plot But now back on the ship we remember The cage has been real since December Of two-thousand ten We've escaped it again and again With this toy that brings us no joy Just migraines and memory loss We'd rather be nailed to a cross Take me away From this coffin that's floating in space! Give me one day Where I don't have a mask on my face I'm tired of playing a game That's the same every time Of committing fake crimes Make me a rock or a tree On a world that is humanoid free All that I need Is a fruit and a seed And the sun beating down from above I'll escape it again
17.
Delmak-O is where I'm gonna go But I don't know what they're gonna make me do No, I haven't got a clue I'm just glad to leave this crew behind After all of this time The gods have answered my prayer I'll be better off there Where the air is clean And the people aren't mean Even sight unseen I know I've got to go.

about

This is a concept album based on the novel of the same name by Philip K. Dick.

Recorded at a time when collaborating over the internet was not quite so easy, Future Boy resided in Montreal and Johnny Cashpoint in London. The composition process involved sending lyrics and arrangements to each other for revision and sometimes complete reimagining with Future Boy taking a final mix pass on each track.
